Calling on the Name of the Lord, Anonymous

The believers in the local churches are truly "those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart," as mentioned in 2 Timothy 2:22. The complete verse goes as follows,"But flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."

When I was in high school I was riding across the floating bridge connecting Bellevue to Seattle with a bunch of other young people in a van. We all decided that we would call on the Lord for approximately five minutes without stopping (except to breathe). I can testify that at the end of those five minutes the Lord Jesus Christ was real to me in a personal way. I found out for the first time that Romans 10:12 is really true - the Lord is rich to all those who call upon His name. In that moment I experienced that calling on the Lord is a joyful way to drink from the fountain of living water He has provided for us (Isaiah 12:3-4). Calling on the Lord is not a new practice. The first record of man calling on the name of the Lord is found with Enosh in Genesis 4:26. I am thankful to the Lord that He has shown me the value and pleasure found in calling on His name.

Higher Truths and Deeper Meaning

I enjoy the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee because it has helped me understand the truths and the meaning of the Christian life spoken of in the Bible. For example: I will not spend eternity in a physical mansion with pearly gates, driving a Rolls Royce down golden streets. Rather, as a part of Christ's corporate Bride, I will exist in complete oneness and harmony with God and other believers, drinking God as the river of water of life and eating Him as the tree of life, thus expressing God for all the universe to see (this is the New Jerusalem as revealed in Revelation 21-22). Watchman Nee's and Witness Lee's writings have not only given me a glimpse into a bright future with the Lord, but a deeper meaning to my Christian life today.
